Spring Wreath

I feel like a wreath on the door completes our decor...

Supplies:
picture frame - I chose a black 5x7 because I had one on hand
3 yards of tulle (1 yard of each color) - I used teal, lime green, and yellow
flowers - had on hand but purchased previously at Dollar Tree
butterfly - on sale at Ben Franklin Crafts
letter - also on sale at BFC
hot glue gun

I cut the tulle in strips of 2 inches wide by 12 inches long.

Then tied them in an alternating pattern all the way around the frame.

Hot glued the flowers and the letter and clipped on the butterfly.

As my nephew says: "Easy peasy mac and cheesy."

Seriously, probably the easiest wreath I've ever made and I LOVE it!

Re-caulking the shower

As new homeowners, we are quickly learning the tricks of home repair and maintenance.  We've been in our home now for 8 months and the caulking job in our master bath was driving me crazy.  The caulk was no longer sealed to the tile in the corners and I didn't know if we were making things worse with water dripping down the walls and into the crevices.

See? Kinda gross

So I made a trip to our local Home Depot and got a quick how-to and what-to-use and came home to give it a go.

Supplies List:
tub and shower cleaner of choice - I like to use The Works. (don't forget your scrubber)
towel (to dry shower after cleaning)
flat head screwdriver
caulk - this GE brand silicone was suggested to me by a Home Depot employee.
caulking gun
paper towels or cleaning towel you won't mind throwing away

First, I cleaned the shower.  I didn't want anything to impede the caulk from sealing perfectly to the tile and soap scum or hard water buildup would definitely cause a problem.

I removed the existing caulk with a flat head screwdriver.  I thought it was going to be especially difficult, but finding the perfect angle for the blade was key and then it came right up.

Next, I did a little more cleaning where the caulk used to be, towel dried the shower and then left it to air dry for a couple hours.  Again, I wanted the best circumstances for the caulk to adhere well.

Snipping off the caulk tube tip, I was ready.  I found that cutting off a small amount at a time gave me the chance to determine the best flow.  Once I had the caulk ready to flow, I found slow and steady pumps on the handle combined with slow and fluid movements of the gun made for a cleaner, easier finish.

Applying the tip right to the crevice put the caulk right where I wanted and then i followed up by smoothing with my finger tip and occasionally wiping any excess on a towel. (I threw it away because once there is silicone on it, its a goner.)

Remember:  you'll probably get some on your hands.  Remember: it IS waterproof so you won't want to wash a bunch of it off your hands and down the sink.  Be sure to wipe your hands well on a paper towel or a towel you will be throwing away and then wash with soap and water.

Easy Clean

Funny how you don't realize that your light fixtures need cleaning until you have to replace the light bulb.  Don't let those detailed covers scare you.  Stick 'em in the dishwasher.  Let the machine do the dirty work.

And believe it or not, the light shines so much better through them!

Facebook Page Timeline Cover Image

A lot of people have been asking - "what are the correct dimensions for the new facebook cover image?"

I thought I would give you the files and the help you need to make sure it is the right size.

As stated on facebook's website, the file should be 851x315px, but it must be at least 399 wide if you are going to use something smaller. When putting your design together make sure you follow the guidelines.

Here is a blank file you can download to use as a template. Download cover image template

While we're at it, let's update your profile picture to be the right size too. 180x180px. Download profile image template

Mickey or Minnie Mouse Birthday Invitation Card

My nephew just had a birthday and even though I was not asked to make the announcement, I made one anyway. I didn't want it to be only a Mickey design so I made a bow so there could be a Minnie version too. I really like the way it turned out. If you'd like me to customize this for your Mickey or Minnie let me know. I'd be happy to do so for $10. I can also provide printing services for you as well if you need a bunch. If not, head to your local print shop for a few photo prints.

Skeleton in the oven...

I got this shirt out of my wife’s closet for a friend this last Halloween and thought you all might like it. We took this little skeleton image and cut it out on heat transfer vinyl, then used a heat press to attach it to the shirt. You can also use an iron to make the same effect, but a heat press is a lot faster.
Make sure you don’t want to use the shirt for anything else because this baby (pun intended) is not coming off.
Use the file for yourself or contact me to cut it out for you.
Enjoy!

If you have an idea but don't know how to make it happen. send me a message. I'll see what I can do.

Vinyl Letter for Wall - Treat it Differently F. Burton Howard

I used 3 Fonts to make this:
- Zapfino
- Americana
- Felix
Once I had the layout the way I liked it I changed the fonts to outlines. I then used the pathfinder window (Adobe Illustrator) and United the text “Forever” so that when the letters were being cut on the vinly cutter the letters would not cut into each other.
You are welcome to use this and cut it out yourself or you can contact me and I will cut one for you. We can cut it to size.

If you have an idea but don't know how to make it happen, send me a message. I'll see what I can do.
